#BillsMafia: Vibes from ‘the FAMbase’

After failing to get people motivated to write up their fan stories over the last few weeks, I did a little thinking (rarely a good thing)… and decided it was time to bring a different dimension to our BillsMafia blog. There are so many great blogs/websites that feature terrific football analysis but I don’t see much out there featuring the happenings among the Bills FAMbase.

As EIC (Editor-in-Chief) I decided it’s time to create an interactive place for fans of Buffalo Sports to share news and matters of interest among and about the FAMbase. Consider this my attempt to show the world what’s really going on in the lives of Buffalo sports fans … and that we’re more than a collection of drunken fools jumping through folding tables.

Not sure exactly where this will lead, but I’m going to start with posting news from folks on my Twitter timeline. I’ll likely also throw in some ‘wyobabble’ from time to time, and a rant or two or three along the way.

So those of you who follow me on Twitter @RobynMundyWYO… consider yourselves warned that you may see a tweet of yours show up here if I think it should be shared with the FAMbase for one reason or another :)

I’ve found over the years when starting something new it’s better to let the structure create itself and go from there.

So without further FAMfare…

We’ve had some our BillsMafia FAMily facing serious medical issues over the last week and would like to wish them well as they recover from recent health challenges…

First up, if you don’t follow @MichaelThomas82 on Twitter, you’re missing a great addition to your timeline. I had the privilege of meeting Michael at training camp a few years back, and his photography work is outstanding and something we hope he can get back to doing very soon :)

Michael recently had major open heart and aortic surgery. He is making awesome strides in his recovery. We look forward to seeing Michael at training camp & sharing his pictures with us on Twitter.

Next up, our good friend Gina Mara (@ginasabres) had a busy couple of weeks. After her husband recently collapsed at home, she started CPR and called 911. Her quick action saved her husband’s life and he is now recovering from open heart surgery. He’s had a few setbacks along the way, so we send our very best wishes to Mr. & Mrs. Mara. Please send some good vibes their way!

And if that’s not enough medical drama for our BillsMafia FAMbase, cancer had to wreak its havoc with another beloved member of my timeline, @CarleneMarie_1. Carlene was recently diagnosed with an uncommon variety of ovarian cancer and is currently undergoing heavy-duty chemotherapy.

We wish Carlene all the best as she beats down hard on cancer and shows us how Bills fans overcome any adversity!

Here’s hoping there’s big steps forward for Michael, Carlene and Gina’s husband as we head into the new week. Sending good vibes from the FAMbase!

Stay tuned as I bring more news, stories and of course more ‘wyobabble’ from BillsMafia.

Editor’s babble: If you have any news or events you would like to share with the FAMbase, feel free to message me on Twitter @RobynMundyWYO. Expect the unexpected coming your way from the greatest, craziest fan base in all of sports.
